Principal's Message

Dear Parents,

Please ask your child about our new lunchtime food waste recycling program.  We have thirty fourth and fifth grade "Wastebusters" who are helping our school reduce landfill trash by helping kids properly sort recycling, landfill, and compostable items from their lunch.  We have invested in compostable trays and will no longer put Styrofoam trays in the trash!   You can help by following the new trend of lunchbox sized containers with compartments for different foods.  Many students bring their lunch and snack in a reusable container. Many thanks to Tina Neuhausel and our custodian Vee for helping us launch the program!

Join us for our Parent Education meeting at our next PTA meeting on Tuesday, November 18 at 7:00 in the library.  We will be discussing Accountable Talk.  AT is specific and relevant conversation that promotes learning.  Students respond to and develop what others in the group have said. This is another installment in helping you learn new strategies being practiced in the classroom to meet the new Common Core State Standards.

Thank you,

Carol Nenni

Murwood Principal

From the Office

If you have moved since the beginning of the school year, please make sure to pop in to the office to update your address with us so you don't miss out on any communications.  You will need to provide a current lease or mortgage and PG&E bill.

Mark Your Calendars:  Minimum days are coming next week...due to Parent/Teacher Conferences, students will be getting of school early next Wednesday/Thursday/Friday.

Also, we are in search of extra pants for BOYS, sizes 5-8, preferably elastic waist...but we're short on spares for little boys, so any will be welcome.

MURWOOD LOVES TO READ
Remember how we were keeping track of our reading during the book fair? Well the final numbers are in and we read over 10,500 minutes! That's over 175 hours! If you're wondering who read the most, it turns out the 5th graders take home that prize with over 3,700 minutes. If you're interested we've still got the reading tower out in front of the library. Great job readers!!
